Spyridon Papageorgiou is the Secretary General for the Protection of Critical Entities, with more than 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, cyber defence, and critical infrastructure protection. He is a retired Captain of the Hellenic Navy and has served as Director of Cyber Defence at the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), as well as Head of the Joint Cyber Defence Operations Centre and the competent National CSIRT. He has also served as Cyber Security Partner at KPMG Greece and has participated in European PESCO initiatives.

He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a number of GIAC professional certifications. He has extensive teaching experience and has made a significant contribution to the planning and development of national cyber defence exercises.

In his current role, he coordinates the development of Greece’s national framework for the resilience and protection of critical entities.
